Stop saying that!
We use the phrase as an excuse when we don’t see things happen.
Jesus was a human, born of woman, grew from a child to a man, got baptized by John the Baptist, and left the Jordan River filled with the Holy Spirit. Then he modeled the Christian life for 3 years. He said to follow Him, so I know it’s possible.
In John 14:12, Jesus said:
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
He didn’t say only a few would do those works. He said whoever believes. That’s all of us, Church. He didn’t say give it a shot and see what happens. He didn’t say try it, and if it doesn’t work, don’t ever try it again.
No, He said if we believe in Him, we will do the things He did, and greater.
I don’t know about you, but I want that. All of it.
Just because we don’t see the results we were looking for, it doesn’t change the truth of His words.
Faith is looking past our experiences and believing the words written in red are true.

You said two words that are very important “believe” and “faith.” If we lack faith and do not believe that we can do the works that Jesus did and greater, we will not be able to do them. This is something that I have to keep reminding myself. It is possible. Thanks for reminding me.

To embrace the power that Jesus gives…this is a true belief and understanding. We truly have no excuse as when we accepted this path, we were made new and in that new creation is a power beyond our wildest imagination. I believe that Paul truly understood that when he spoke of his sin vs. the good he ought to do. We all must come to a point where we see that when we look in the mirror!

incarnate- in the flesh, just like us, too many try to totally spiritualize Jesus, and take him out of that body! Yes He was and is the Son of God, but it would not have done us any good if he had not become the son of man!

I remember reading in one of the gospels where some of the disciples had said something about Satan, and Jesus, as His way of saying, “that’s nothing”, said, “I saw Satan fall from the sky”. It made me realize Jesus had already beat him once. I believe the showdown in the wilderness was Jesus test to see if He could beat him on his own turf. Of course he did.
And I think that is the deal. We have to take our stand and beat him. We have to know that when we take it, he’s not going to just lay down. When we stand with arms crossed and say, “you have to leave”, he will likewise stand with arms crossed and say, “make me”. Too often we give up before the fight really gets going. You have to know that you know that you know that he has to leave. And when you know it and he knows you know it, it can lead to pretty cool stuff.
